Here’s our 2009 St Andrews package, which includes some great golf in the St Andrews area as well as ballot entry to get on the Old Course (we can look after all the arrangements). As a group of two or four, staying in town for a week, this method is ideal for getting a game on this most hallowed of courses. We can then move one of their other games around when we know what day they’ve got a spot.
Every serious golfer has to at some stage of their golf education, visit the home of golf and play the classic courses at St Andrews.
St Andrews is recognised internationally as the ‘home of golf’, the world’s leading golf destination and venue for some of the sport’s major tournaments. The range and quality of courses, not to mention the majestic beauty of the St Andrews coastline, marks the town out as the premier destination for golfers around the globe.
Have got a great guest house right in the heart of town – Brownlees, King-size beds that split into twins, great Scottish breakfasts & perfect for walking to the Old Course and famous R&A clubhouse, as well as for strolling around to enjoy all the bars & restaurants.
With a rich variety of 10 courses designed to suit all ranges of ability and experience, St Andrews is a major attraction for golfers wishing to sample the unique atmosphere of playing golf in a town steeped in six centuries of the sport’s history. The high concentration of courses means that whatever the length of your stay, you can spend more time playing golf and less time travelling.
We highly recommend any groups of two or four to select the ballot process for getting a game on the revered Old course. We can look after all the arrangements on their behalf, and as they will be staying in town for a week, they are in best possible position to get a slot on one of the days – and the other courses in the area are very amenable about moving times around to accommodate for any ballot bookings. This also saves clients consisderable expense over a guaranteed tee time package (which is really designed for larger groups).
All keen golfers will relish playing at St Andrews, but it’s the sheer quality of the other links courses nearby that single this part of the country as being so special. These include playing either the New or Jubilee course that run alongside the Old course. In addition, we’d get them a round at the incomparable Kingsbarns, in our opinion, probably the best course in the whole St Andrews area. Or you could choose a game on the Championship course at Carnoustie, scene of the great finish in 2007 between Sergio Garcia and Padraig Harrington.
Crail is a true hidden gem, with some breathtaking holes played right alongside the sea, Lundin is part links, part parkland and a good enough test to be a British Open qualifying course when The Open is held at St. Andrews.
