South East – Muirfield

 PRICE

Price per person from £1010 -6 nights and 5 rounds of golf

Here’s our recommended East Lothian golf tour, including a round on the most revered of Scottish links at Muirfield. Teetimes are only available by advance application and these tend to go extremely quickly, so we would advise anyone interested to book soon to avoid disappointment.

The county of East Lothian is sometimes called the Cradle of Golf  - the golf courses are so close together that you can stay in the same hotel for the duration of your stay, centrally located for each course, and yet close enough to Edinburgh to fit in some sightseeing in Scotland’s historic and scenic capital city. We also recommend making time to visit Glenkinchie Whisky Distillery, and Edinburgh to enjoy its many historic sights and also the great shopping and nightlife

Your base for the week is the charming seaside town of North Berwick, staying at the delightful Belhaven, which is a charming smaller hotel, just a short walk from North Berwick harbour and right next to the famous West links. The hotel has recently been bought by a couple who are putting lots of care & into improving the facilities and making it into one of East Scotland’s most elegant boutique hotels, where you will be guaranteed a very warm welcome.

Apart from your game at Muirfield, we have 4 games on some of the top classic links courses on the East Lothian coast. The famous Dunbar golf links is one of the best links courses in the country. Fourteen consecutive holes run along a narrow strip of land by the Firth of Forth meaning a lengthy, testing exposure to the vagaries of seaside golf.

As the 35th oldest golf club in the country, Kilspindie Golf Club is a true Scottish links retaining its original, traditional features. Golf has been played on the Gullane golf links for over 300 years and all the courses here are superb. Gullane No. 2 was laid out in 1898 and one feature of the course is its excellent short holes, particularly the 11th with its magnificent views.

Then, we’ve saved one of the best for last. North Berwick Golf Club is another Open qualifying venue. Located on the Firth of Forth, with stunning sea views across to Craigleith Island and Bass Rock (a huge volcanic lump rising some 300 feet up from the sea). It is the 2nd oldest course in the world still playing over its original fairways – only the Old Course at St Andrews is older.

For your chance to play the very best of Scottish links golf and stay in delightful accommodation, this tour is hard to beat.
