Total price per person 1445 euros – 6 nights and 5 rounds of golf.

Here’s our recommended 6 night Ireland package for 2009, starting off in Dublin and enjoying a few days in the capital including some of the great links golf on Dublin Bay, with a few days on the wonderful North East coast. This definitely qualifies as 4/5 star golf and have also combined with some delightful character accommodation.

To start with, you’ll be staying at The Grand Malahide, a really charming four star venue, set in one of the most delightful harbour towns in all of Ireland. Full of restaurants and cafes, this is a lovely place to unwind and stroll around its bustling harbour. To get to Dublin itself, you can just hop on the regular DART train service, which takes just 20 minutes, so they can go in and out as often as you like.

While staying here, we have some superb golf lined up - these include the impressive Bernard Langer-designed Portmarnock Hotel Links. Then we’d suggest The Island, one of our favourite Irish courses, very friendly club and some wonderful holes.

After 3 days in Dublin, we’d recommend driving the short distance up to the North Antrim coast. Some of the finest coastal scenery in Ireland is to be found here. Pretty harbours, the unbelievable rope bridge at Carrick-a-rede, the Glens of Antrim, the World’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery at Bushmills and best of all, the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World’ – the Giants Causeway all contribute to what is definitely an unforgettable experience.

You’ll be staying for the next 3 nights at the exquisite Brown Trout Inn, an utterly charming character inn that oozes charm and genuine Irish hospitality. All our clients love it here and vow to come back time after time – see our footnote below. You can either stay in the main hotel or in one of their spacious self catering cottages, with full use of the restaurant & bar when you want to use it. This is such a good place to stay and it offers good value, that we would recommend it for all our 4 star and 3 requests !

As for the golf – this is as good as it gets in terms of links golf – Portstewart is a gem of a links, set amongst rolling sand dunes, with sweeping views towards the blue Donegal hills and the Atlantic ocean. Castlerock is another of the great links courses on the Causeway coast with eyecatching views of Donegal and on a clear day towards Scotland.

Top of the list though, if they are staying in this part of the world, is the  magnificent links at  Royal Portrush, the only club outside Britain to host The Open Championship in 1951. Royal Portrush Golf Club is on everyone’s list of top golf courses in Ireland and is often included in lists of the top golf courses in the world.

This wonderful tour, combining the best of Ireland’s capital and the wondrous Antrim coast is another of our all-time favourites. I’ve included links to the hotels, sightseeing and golf courses below:
